I’ve just finished liberating another WordPress theme. yoga-liberated is the theme and this was a particularly pesky one.

It’s not that the encryption routine was anything to write home about, however the whole right-sidebar was encrypted too. Not only was it adding spam links to a blog and added processor cycles to decrypt the footer every time a page was displayed, but the theme author blocked users from amending their right-sidebar. Wouldn’t have been so bad if the theme had widget support, but it didn’t.

Enjoy!

This one had a 220k footer which must have wasted literally hundreds of machine cycles to decrypt on every page load. Not only that, but there was also an encrypted section in the sidebar, just for good measure. Well, it’s free for everyone to enjoy now.

Here’s another liberated theme for you. As I’ve said in a previous post, one of the projects I’ll be undertaking on this blog is clearing up themes with encrypted sections. As I’ve said in a previous post, one of the projects I’ll be undertaking on this blog is clearing up themes with encrypted sections. The WordPress mantra is that WordPress, it’s plugins and themes should be available for the public to use, without being crippled or impaired. However, a number of “free” themes not only have links put in the footer without the user’s consent, they are also encrypted in such a way that they really impact a site’s performance. For example, today’s liberated theme had a footer file that was over 250k in size. Your server needs to load this in, decrypt it then display it. And that needs to happen on every page load. You really don’t want stuff like that running on your server.

So, here’s today’s liberated theme: Funny Dogs Liberated

The WordPress mantra is that WordPress, it’s plugins and themes should be available for the public to use, without being crippled or impaired. However, a number of “free” themes not only have links put in the footer without the user’s consent, they are also encrypted in such a way that they really impact a site’s performance. For example, today’s liberated theme had around 100+ obfuscation routines embedded within one another, which are a massive drain on your server’s performance, as your server needs to de-obfuscate the footer each time the page is displayed.

So here is liberated theme number 1: Business Blue Liberated
