One of the things I’ll be using this site for is to liberate themes. The WordPress mantra is that WordPress, it’s plugins and themes should be available for the public to use, without being crippled or impaired. However, a number of “free” themes not only have links put in the footer without the user’s consent, they are also encrypted in such a way that they really impact a site’s performance. For example, today’s liberated theme had around 100+ obfuscation routines embedded within one another, which are a massive drain on your server’s performance, as your server needs to de-obfuscate the footer each time the page is displayed.
